The Fisherman

Upriver, a mercury sky
drains, light into darkness.
On the vast strand of heaven, stars
left by an ebbing tide.
I am here on the bank,
quiet, watching,
listening in the silver
twilight. Nothing but my
own heartbeat, my own
time draining into darkness.
And watching me,
quiet, eternal,
the goddess Moon.
